Rhyse Cathcart believed that Hornet Juice helped him complete a massive endurance event.

“Just in time, I have just completed my first Marathon on the 29th April and yes I used My hornet Juice. I really think it helped me, I also used it for my first 1/2 marathon and whilst I was training. I bought 10 sachets and they have been like little packets of gold dust to me. I wasn’t sure at first as there are so many products on the market, but i truly believe that Hornet Juice helped me to complete this massive enduance event.. I noticed a big difference in my HR being Lowered and also reducing and keeping my cram at bay. I will continue to use Hornet juice in the future and will look to see if it can help me improve on my 5K times now that the focus is back on speed rather than distance.”

Natural Running Symposium

“The Natural Running Symposium took place in October of 2010 at the Maine Running Company. Danny Abshire from Newton Running, Kirsten Buchanan from Impact Sports Medicine and Jamie Raymond from Raymond Chiropractic joined John Rogers to talk about barefoot and natural running in front of a crowd of about 60 people.

Each speaker had their own take on what natural running means and why it is good for us, as well as when it isn’t.” – excerpt from Runtowin.com.

Home Gym vs. Membership—which is better for you?

People in very public gymWe’ve all pondered this dilemma. Is it better to invest in the exercise equipment instead of putting money into a gym membership? There are a lot of factors to consider, which will help you discover which is best for you.

  • Price
  • Time
  • Privacy
  • Motivation

For some, a home gym might be a more affordable option in the long run, compared to the hundreds or even thousands of dollars a gym membership can cost each year. On the other hand, there are always repairs for mechanical equipment, like: treadmills, elliptical machines and stationary bikes. These repairs can be more expensive in the long run, making a gym membership a more pocket-friendly option.

A home gym can be a much faster and convenient option, for those who have more money than time. It’s also guaranteed to be more private.

The final factor of motivation can work either way. If you are the kind of person that enjoys working out at the gym, you will probably be more motivated to dig in and get the best workout when you are there. However, if you are shy, you might not get the best results out of your workout in a public gym when you are feeling out of your comfort zone.

Whichever choice is right for you, you will be sure to find the results you are looking for, and either option is well worth the price in health benefits alone. So no excuses—go hit the gym! (Whether it’s in your basement or down the road).

Energy in a bottle

Found this at Zentriathlon‘s blog:

“Nice evening negative split push-run, first half with Roxy. Felt sloppy at first, but then the energy started pouring on! Must’ve been the Hornet Juice in the water bottle. :)

Barefoot running on treadmill is paying off big time. I have a completely new form that feels better the faster I go. :)

Sports Drinks – What to look for on the label

If your post-workout sports beverage is determined by the best-looking color, it might be time for you to consider the benefits that they offer (or don’t). Beyond the rainbow of colors and adrenaline infused names, sports drinks differ quite a bit in the content. Here are some things to look for on the label next time you reach for an ice cold beverage:

  • Sodium will help your body absorb water and staves off cramping (200 mg or less is ideal)
  • Caffeine for energy
  • Carbohydrates (more than 20 grams will be a better post-workout drink and less will make a great way to hydrate throughout your workout)
  • Protein for muscle recovery
  • Electrolytes for fluid replacement

While these elements make a great sports drink, there are also some things that you should try to avoid in your colorful hydration:

  • Vitamins – yes, they are great for you, but it’s much more advisable to get them from a multivitamin once a day and be done with it.
  • High fructose corn syrup – studies show that the average person consumes about 60 pounds a year! It’s terrible for you.

Look for the sodium, caffeine, carbohydrates, protein and electrolytes in your sports drink, and avoid unnecessary vitamins and the high fructose corn syrup. Once you have found a drink that fits this bill, (and is an enticing color, of course) you are ready for the final secret to a perfect sports drink:

Pop it in the freezer before your workout for a sports drink slushy that will truly blow your mind. It’s perfect for a post-workout treat on a sweltering day. I can almost taste it now…
